IC/BA Supervisor Bio

Marlena Castro
IIC/BA Supervisor

I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with over a decade of experience in clinical practice and social services. I hold a Master of Social Work with a concentration in Clinical Practice with Families and Children from Monmouth University and a BA in Psychology and Criminal Justice from Rutgers University.

I have served in several leadership and clinical roles:

  • Director of Care Management/Educational Coordinator at Coordinated Family Care: I have overseen daily operations and ensured care management teams adhere to regulatory standards while integrating the organization's mission in their work with youth and families.
  • Clinical Supervisor at Holistik Therapy: I provided supervision to provisionally licensed candidates, ensuring they meet requirements for licensure through clinical oversight and treatment plan reviews.
  • Intensive In-Community (IIC) Therapist at Project 99: I have provided flexible, in-home therapy to adolescents to stabilize and preserve the family unit.

My Background

I have a diverse professional background which also includes roles such as a Mental Health Clinician in private practice and acute psychiatric services, an Adolescent Residential Therapist, and a Resident Counselor for youth in residential care. I am a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Inc. and have been an active volunteer with Purnell Temple Church of God in Christ since 2006.

My Belief
Every day brings a chance to make a positive difference, and knowing that my work helps individuals and families build a better future gives me a strong sense of purpose.

"I love being a social worker because I have the opportunity to help people overcome challenges, find hope, and improve their lives."
